Itinerary

Day 01Arrive in Baku | Settle In & Explore at Your Own Pace

Today is simple: land, settle in, and let the city find you.

Our representative will be at the airport to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in Baku. After check-in, the rest of the day is completely free. Take a walk around the area, find a good place for dinner, grab some tea at a local café, or just sit by the Caspian Sea and relax.

Day 1 is about arriving without rushing. Baku rewards the people who slow down on the first evening.

Today’s Schedule:

  • Arrive at Heydar Aliyev International Airport
  • Transfer to hotel and check-in
  • Free evening, explore the neighbourhood, try local food, or rest
  • Overnight stay in Baku

Day 02Fire Temples, Burning Hills & Iconic Architecture

Today has two things your group photos have been waiting for: natural flames and a building that looks like it was designed for a movie set.

Start at Ateshgah Fire Temple, a 17th-century Zoroastrian fire temple built around natural gas vents that once burned permanently from the earth. It’s peaceful, atmospheric, and genuinely unlike anything most travellers have seen.

Next is Yanar Dagh the ‘Burning Mountain’. A long stretch of hillside that has been on fire for years, non-stop, because of underground natural gas. You can walk right up to the flames. Go in the late afternoon when the fire contrasts beautifully with the darkening sky.

Finish the day at the Heydar Aliyev Center, Zaha Hadid’s masterpiece a sweeping white building with no sharp edges, designed to flow like a wave. The grounds outside are perfect for group shots, and the architecture is something you’ll talk about for a while.

Evening is yours Baku has excellent restaurants and a great rooftop bar scene.

Today’s Schedule:

  • Ateshgah Fire Temple — ancient Zoroastrian site, World Heritage monument
  • Yanar Dagh — the hillside that has been naturally burning for decades
  • Heydar Aliyev Center — Zaha Hadid’s most famous building
  • All entry tickets included
  • Private AC transport for all transfers
  • Overnight stay in Baku

Day 03Old City, Ancient Towers & Caspian Views

Day 3 is the full Baku experience. You’ll move from thousand-year-old stone walls to glittering glass towers, all within a few hours and a few kilometres.

Begin with Icherisheher Baku’s UNESCO-listed Old City. Walk through its winding alleys, visit the Palace of the Shirvanshahs (a 15th-century royal complex still largely intact), and stop at the Miniature Book Museum, one of the most genuinely peculiar museums you’ll ever walk into.

Then climb the Maiden Tower a 12th-century defensive tower with panoramic views of the old city and the Caspian Sea from the top. It’s one of Baku’s most recognisable landmarks.

From there, walk to Fountain Square, stroll the famous Baku Boulevard (the seafront promenade), and explore Little Venice  a small canal area with gondola rides that’s perfect for a group laugh.

Visit the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum (shaped like a rolled carpet yes, really), then take the funicular up to the Flame Towers viewpoint for the best panoramic shot in Baku. Stay for sunset at Daghustu Park or take a ride on the Baku Eye (Ferris Wheel) for an aerial view of the city and the Caspian.

Today’s Schedule:

  • Icherisheher (Old City) — UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Palace of the Shirvanshahs — 15th-century royal heritage
  • Miniature Book Museum — the world’s smallest books on display
  • Maiden Tower — 12th-century landmark with city and sea views
  • Fountain Square and Baku Boulevard promenade
  • Little Venice — canals in the middle of the city
  • Azerbaijan Carpet Museum
  • Funicular ride + Flame Towers viewpoint
  • Sunset at Daghustu Park or Baku Eye (Ferris Wheel)
  • All entry tickets included
  • Private AC transport for all transfers
  • Overnight stay in Baku

Day 04Breakfast, Check-Out & Head Home

You’ll leave with full phones, a few extra kilos of local sweets in your bag, and very likely a group chat full of trip-planning messages for the next one.

FAQs

Do Indian citizens need a visa to visit Azerbaijan?

Yes. Indian passport holders need an Azerbaijan e-visa. The entire process is online — no embassy visit or physical submission required. It usually takes 3 working days and costs approximately USD 20–26. We’ll guide you through the application process step by step after you confirm your booking.

How do I travel to Baku from India?

There are regular flights to Baku’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and other major Indian cities. Some are direct; others have one stop. Flight time is roughly 3.5 to 5 hours. Flights are not included in this package, but we’re happy to help you identify the best options based on your city and travel dates.

What is the total Azerbaijan trip cost from India?

The package starts at ₹45,000 per person (price varies with group size). This covers the hotel, daily breakfast, airport transfers, sightseeing transport, and entry tickets. For meals and personal expenses, budget an additional ₹1,000–₹1,500 per person per day. Flights and visa charges are separate.

What is the best time to visit Baku?

Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–November) are ideal comfortable temperatures, low humidity, and minimal rain. Summer (July–August) is warm to hot. Winter (December–February) is cold but Baku looks beautiful with festive lighting, and tourist crowds are lowest.

Is Baku safe for groups of friends?

Yes. Baku is one of the safer cities in the region. It’s well-lit, walkable, and locals are generally very welcoming toward tourists. The city feels calm and secure even late in the evening. Standard travel precautions apply keep your group together, don’t display expensive items, and you’ll be absolutely fine.

Can we add more destinations to this itinerary?

Yes, easily. Gabala is the most popular add-on — it adds mountains, cable cars, and a lake (1–2 extra nights). Sheki is another great option for those who like heritage and culture. Gobustan National Park (mud volcanoes and ancient rock carvings) works well as a half-day add-on from Baku. Just let us know what your group is interested in.

What is the ideal group size for this package?

We recommend a minimum of 4 people. Larger groups get better per-person pricing. There’s no strict maximum we’ve run this for groups of 4 to 20+. Contact us with your group size and we’ll give you exact pricing.

Can the itinerary be customised?

Completely. If you want more free time, a hotel upgrade, a private guide, additional activities, or a version with fewer walking-heavy days we can build that. Just tell us your preferences before you book.

What currency is used in Azerbaijan?

The local currency is the Azerbaijani Manat (AZN). Currency exchange is available at the airport and across the city. USD and Euros are also easy to exchange. Credit and debit cards are accepted at most hotels and restaurants, but carry some cash for local markets and smaller shops.

Will we have assistance during the trip if something goes wrong?

Yes. You’ll have on-call support from the fleego team throughout your trip. If there’s any issue with a hotel, transfer, ticket, or anything else on the ground contact us directly and we’ll sort it out.

What do we do about meals?

Breakfast is included at your hotel every day. For lunches and dinners, Baku has a fantastic range of options from casual local restaurants and cafés to rooftop dining and upscale restaurants. Budget approximately ₹500–₹800 per person per meal at a good restaurant.
